Five years ago, almost to the day, I went up on the roof of the Filmores Hotel in Toronto, home of the notorious Filmores strip joint. The hotel’s owner Howard Adams had given me the run of the rooftop seven stories high. I was shooting its iconic 20 foot tall sign to be featured in an issue of
Coupe documenting the urban typographic landscape of Toronto. I recently revisited the shoot for possible usage on another project and thought I’d pull some of the photos out of storage.
